Da Weekend

Well, you are all completely aware of the most exciting thing that happened to me this past weekend...

MY ENGAGEMENT!!! :)

Let me fill you in on the rest of my weekend. Cause it was pretty awesome too!

Friday evening, Jacob and I headed to Ashley and Decota's. We grilled burgers in the garage (cause it was coming a monsoon) and talked each other's ears off. Of course, there was PLENTY of time playing with Corbyn Jayne too. We're kinda biased when it comes to her, but I think she's the smartest, most beautiful almost one year old there is. She's a full blown walker now, so I spent most of the night running after her. She likes being chased and will fall down in a fit of precious giggles when you catch her. After dinner, and when Corbyn dozed off to sleep, we watched The Change Up. It was funny, but I'm gonna guess it wasn't too great because I fell asleep about twenty minutes in. haha

Jacob and I slept late Saturday morning and enjoyed cuddling until lunchtime. We then got showered and headed to Lynchburg, Tennessee to visit the Jack Daniels Distillery. Neither one of us had been (it's just an hour away from Huntsville), and we were pleasantly captivated by the process that goes into making whiskey. I would suggest that anyone go on a free afternoon. It was super interesting and something fun...and out of the norm. After the tour, we went to Historic Downtown Lynchburg for a late lunch. I'm think the town revolves around the distillery because at 4:30 when our tour was over, everything was closed except for the Choo Choo BBQ. Being our only choice for food, we decided it was worth a try. This mom and pop BBQ joint cooked me the best onion and cheese pizza I've had EVER. Seriously. It was delicious and fast! Plus, it was fun to look at the walls which were covered with photos and signatures from the locals.

After our Lynchburg fun, we went to Guntersville to hang at Amy and Dave's. The boys played video games for awhile, and Amy and I ate some of her delicious homemade pizza rollup, feasted on chips and spinach dip, and sipped some awesome wine. Erica and Dee showed up, and we spent the rest of the night playing Things and Grass. On the way home from Amy and Dave's, at 1:30 in the a.m., Jacob and I had a blowout. We ended up having to call his grandfather to bring us another jack because the tire was sooooo flat and the Mustang was sitting on the concrete. Literally. Finally...we made it home and into the bed.

Sunday was spent at church and getting engaged! haha (I'll probably use that phrase as many times as possible!!) We're so pumped!!

Here are pictures from our weekend. I don't know why I can never get them to upload in order of occurrence. Oh well.

Remember how I told you all in my last blog post that I'd tell you all about my exciting weekend this week?! Well, my weekend was more exciting than I could have ever imagined. :)

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Okay, not so breaking...haha, but I did get my hair did this past Tuesday evening. Ellie Covington Burns (who is married to one of my best friends from high school) has moved back home from Texas. I'm so glad that I can now call her my stylist! :) She was great!! It was also a trip though. For all of our adult lives she and Britt have lived in Texas. I still think of her as that little underclassman in high school. Alas, she's a mommy now...and a great one at that!

See how pumped I was?! Those roots of my had been rotten for some time.

This picture is one I took with a new iPhone app: Photosynth. It's the only time I've tried to capture a panoramic, and I can't decide if I like the result or not. This is my office:
Jacob and I have got a very exciting weekend planned! I absolutely can't wait!! I will fill ya in on all the details next week!

The Weekend

I know it's the middle of the week, but here is my weekend update.

Better late than never, right? (Besides you were bored with everyone else's weekend updates by now, weren't you? *hint* The correct answer to that question is Yes. Yes, I was getting very bored!!)

Without further ado...here's what happened over my weekend :)

I'm gonna start the weekend on Thursday night. 'Why?' you ask. Because I had a mini girls night that included dinner. Cassie, Erica, Jamie and I met up Thursday evening at Papa Dubi's for some cajun cooking and a little girl talk. It was absolutely delightful. We caught up, stuffed our bellies (I even had some Reese's Pie for dessert!!), and watched the snow swirl around us. I am always in a great mood after seeing my girls. It just seems to rejuvenate my spirits somehow. And Cassie...let me just tell you...that girl makes me giggly on all levels. She is hilarious!

Jacob had to work Friday evening, so I hung out with Mom. When I got off work, we headed to Boaz for a little shopping. After a rather depressing and unsuccessful shopping trip, Mom and I headed to Walmart for salad stuff. We'd both been craving a delicious salad for dinner. Wanna know what's in a delicious salad? I'll tell you: Spinach leaves, arugula, tomatoes, croutons, sunflower seeds, boiled eggs, bacon bits, radishes, cucumbers, cheese (lots of cheese!), green onions, basil leaves, and white onion. I recommend you top it with the dressing of your choice. Trust me...it's delicious! While at Walmart getting supplies, we ran into an old friend of mine and his girlfriend. It was awesome getting to catch up with him because it had been forever. Literally...like 2 years. That's forever in my book. The rest of my Friday evening was spent just hanging and repainting my nails. It was devine.

Saturday was spent in almost the same fashion as Friday evening. Mom and I went shopping downtown (I may or may not have snagged a couple of gifts for a certain someone) and then spent the day hanging out at home. Jacob came down around one and we went to visit his sister, Ashley, and her husband, Decota, and daughter, Corbyn. After visiting, we heading to Birmingham to meet Erica, Dee, Cooley, Ben, Hannah, BR, and Brittany for dinner at Jim and Nick's. Okay, so I've never had Jim and Nick's before, but it was sooooo good!! I even tried their house beer which was so tasty. After dinner, we headed back to BR and Brittany's to hang out. The girls piled on Brittany and BR's bed to watch the Miss America pageant (Hello, Alabama!! What were you thinking with that bow?! And Miss Florida was my favorite. Beautiful asian!) while the boys stayed in the living room to watch football. Afterwards, the boys started playing cards and us girls played Just Dance on the wii. Let me just tell you now, that's a freaking workout!! Hannah took lots of pictures and videos of us dancing and I can't wait to see them. I am sure they're hysterical.

Sunday I went with Erica and Betty to Alfred Angelo's to look for Erica's wedding dress. Oh my goodness!!! She found it. It is the most stunning thing I have ever seen her in. It seriously brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait to see her in the dress on her wedding day. :)Afterwards, we had Jason's Deli for lunch and went shopping at Belk. I got the four most awesome pairs of earrings AND a ballin' red maxi skirt for almost nothing. Suffice it to say...I felt like my weekend was then complete!

Sunday after was spent at my Gran's and watching the Golden Globes. Monday was spent resting, suffering thru a doctor's appointment, and hanging with my sweetness. It was a fantastic weekend overall. I just love long ones!

The weekend in a few snapshots:
left: a real life Sons of Anarchy biker at Papa Dubis! (Jacob and I love that show!!) right: my ballin' Friday night salad
just a snapshot of some early morning light
this shot made me think of the old hymn, 'At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light...'
I just love my early mornings...
While Mom and I were shopping Saturday, she definitely locked her keys in her car. Because it's a newer model, the police officers couldn't even get the door lock to work, so he had to pop the trunk. Yes. My mother definitely crawled thru the trunk to get the doors unlocked. It was hilarious.
Yummy salad and tomato basil soup at Jason's Deli.
Erica made me pose with Jacob before we left the bridal boutique. And yes, they do sell Bella's wedding dress at Alfred Angelo. *Excuse the roots. They are did now :)*
I enjoyed loooooots of glasses of chocolate milk over the weekend.
It always makes my belly :)

Tuning in on Tuesday

I am currently loving this song...

...simply for the fact that I LOVE singing this lyric:

'...it goes BANG, BANG, BANG while it RANG, RANG, RANGS!'

I mean...It's just a fun song!

Little Facts

  1. I absolutely love having a day off and being able to sleep in. That being said...I still don't like to sleep past 9. I feel as though my day has been partially wasted if I do.
  2. I like to dust (as in, furniture). It always makes me feel like things are a tad bit cleaner. With black furniture though, I'd need to dust every single day to make a huge impression. ha
  3. My Gran's apple turnovers are my favorite sweet treat. Ever.
  4. Sometimes, I don't even want to throw together a cute outfit. Even though I'm going to the doctor this afternoon, and then to hang with my love...I'm sporting a long sleeved tee and jeans. So sue me.
  5. I'm addicted to My Town 2 on my phone. Silly, right?

Mini Date Night

I have got just the sweetest boyfriend!!

Warning!! This is going to be a gushy post...maybe, probably.

Jacob and I had thought he was scheduled to work last (Wednesday) night. It was a pleasant surprise yesterday when he sent me a message telling me he didn't have to work and asking if I wanted to come up for a mini date night.

You, of course, know what I said, right?

YES!!!

I was pumped! You see, Jacob's been scheduled to work every single night this week. It made us both happy to get to spend the middle day of the week with one another.

Now, when I say mini date, I certainly mean MINI date. Jacob and I are both trying to watch what we spend (because we're hoping to get married in the next year). We decided on Moe's Southwest Grill for dinner.

After chowing on a black bean and cheese quesadilla (for me), a pork burrito (for Jacob), and lots of chips and cheese dip, Jacob told me he'd rented:

Oh my goodness. If you haven't seen this movie yet, go out and rent it!! It was magical. Even though it's the first movie where I have absolutely hated Rachel McAdams's character, the introductions of Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald makes up for my hatred completely. It was wonderful!

After lots of cuddling and playing around on our kindles, I had to call it a night.

I love mid-week surprises from my main squeeze.

He's the BEST!:)

New Room...at a glance

Here are just a few glimpses of my bedroom, post tornado. It took us a good six months to get things just right in the new house.

I am so grateful to be back at home. I am thankful that my Gran let me live with her, but a room the size of a shoebox (literally) won't hold my stuff. haha

If we're lucky, we'll see some pictures of the entire room soon :)

Weekend Via Instagram

My sweet brother came by work to see me Friday :)
His visits always make my day!
In Walmart Saturday morning, Erica and I got to witness extreme couponing at it's MOST extreme! This guy (yes, you read that correctly...guy) had two full buggies that had already been checked, these two buggies, and everything that you see on the conveyor belt. And he had a coupon for every single item. Ridiculous.
I spent Saturday afternoon experimenting with fabric and came up with this necklace. My brother is modeling it.
Above is the final product. I was quite pleased :)
On display...
Looking out the back porch...
I went to dinner at Los Arcos with Cassie and April. April ordered that ginormous margarita. I mean, seriously. It was a fishbowl. I expected to see Nemo lazing about while she sipped.
Me and Cass
She always seems to make me giggly.
Sunday morning drive to Huntsville
After church, Jacob and I promptly fell asleep and slept until 4:30. It was great and horrible all at the same time.
He makes me smile :)
Dinner started with a nice glass of OJ...
cinnamon oatmeal...
and grilled cheese sandwiches. (Mine were Miracle Whip free, no worries.)

How was your weekend?

New Years Eve

These are just a few of the pictures that I took on NYE. We spent the evening with our nearest and dearest at the Roeder household. We ate, the boys played cornhole, and the girls talked.

It really was the most perfect, laidback evening.

Jacob sandwiched between his two best friends, Ben and Jake.

All the girlies...Erica, Me, Hannah, Anna, and Katherine

I love my Russell :)

Jacob blowing out his candle at midnight! (And yes, I did make red velvet cake balls!)

Happy Birthday, Sweetness!!
