Sistas

Yesterday, my friend Katherine came up to Marshall County from Auburn (where she's in vet school). She's staying with Erica for the weekend, so after I got off work we headed to The Rock House Eatery for dinner and to catch up.

I only took two pictures of the evening. The one above doesn't do justice to the meal we had last night. It was delicious! We got a bottle of Le Drunk Rooster Chardonnay (yes, we chose that selection of wine purely for its name!) and split it three ways. I had the Pasta Susanna which is fettucini noodles, sundried tomatoes, and scallions in a warm creamy wine sauce. It was perfection. Seriously. After catching up at dinner, we headed to Guntersville's new ice cream shoppe, Clevenger's Creamery. It was divine. The Clevenger's make all the ice cream themselves! My vanilla bean was surely the best I've ever had.

After our tummies were stuffed we headed back to Erica's. I unfortunately had to come to work this morning, so I didn't get to sleepover. In true sleepover fashion though, Kat decided to try a fishtail braid on my hair. We were all pleased with the results. I mean, it was her very first try. Awesome, right?!

Last night was a GREAT night! I am really looking forward to hanging with Jake and Anna tonight (they live in Georgia), and then the whole crew at the Roeder's for New Years Eve!

Jacob's birthday is New Years Day...so I am sure posting will be quite scarce this weekend!

Happy New Year!!

Wednesday via Instagram

My morning drive always proves to be gorgeous.

I made these for my mommy for Christmas. Super easy...and she loved them!

It was just another looooong, SLOW day at work.

Jacob got me this necklace for Christmas!! He's such a sweet boy :)

Tortora's spinach and feta pizza was on the menu for dinner last night.

Mine and Jacob's night was spent playing on our kindle fires and watching Sons of Anarchy.
(Please excuse his messy room.)

Just another glimpse of dinner...Jacob spent it catching up with Ben. No worries, I ate while reading The Hunger Games! :)

Tuning in on Tuesday

Because today is actually the 'Tuesday' of my work week (and let's face it, I forgot to post it yesterday...), I am going to do the Tuning in on Tuesday post today.

I can't get this song out of my head.

Everyone loves Needtobreathe, right?

In honor of the upcoming NEW YEAR, I've added a couple of blogs to my 'People You Should Follow.'

So, check it.

I mean, who doesn't love a good blog?
Really?

They keep me busy at work (Wait...that didn't sound right. Let's try again. haha)

They keep me busy when I have finished all of my actual WORK at work.

Whatev...you get the picture.

Check em.

Christmas Glimpse

Everyone knows that Christmas is always about looking thru old photos...right? haha At least that's what we do when Haley, Sabrina, and I get together on Christmas Day. We had a fun time reminiscing. (How funny is it that our Mawmaw ALWAYS bought us matching outfits?!)

This is technically a day after Christmas shot (made with Instagram...my new favorite obsession). I am always sad to see the tree go.

What you see above is Gran's famous tsunami cake. Take my word for it...delish.

We're so lucky to be getting a tech savvy man in the family :)

That's my Gran. I think she's the bomb.com (even if I am not her favorite grandchild! haha)

This Christmas I became obsessed with:
my kindle fire
my iPhone
Instagram
Maahjohng
The Hunger Games
and
microwaveable stuffed animals that keep you warm

Merry Christmas

The Lord has blessed me beyond measure!! I hope he's done the same for you ! :)

Tuning in on Tuesday

This is by far my most favorite Christmas song ever!!

Like, it's on repeat in my car right now...

12 December 2011

On my mind...

  • That's where I wanna be right now...in a field of lavendar...taking pictures.
  • Although, it'd probably soothe my senses so much that it would relax me into a deep sleep.
  • That sounds pretty good right about now.
  • I love Christmas just as much as the next person, but it's such a BUSY time of the year.
  • Christmas will straight up wear you out.
  • And you wanna know what makes me sad?
  • Most people miss the whole reason for Christmas.
  • A tiny baby was born in a manger. Can you even imagine what it was like for Joseph? Knowing he'd get to be the earthly father to the Son of God? I mean, AMAZING!!
  • I think an old Christmas carol gets the point across best..."God rest ye merry gentlemen. Let nothing you dismay. Remeber Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day...TO SAVE OUR SOULS FROM SATAN'S POWER WHEN WE HAVE GONE ASTRAY..."
  • Ooosh...it gives me shivers to think about God becoming flesh to save me from my sinful nature.
  • Remember that this Christmas.
  • Okay?
  • I didn't mean for this to turn into a one pointed post...but it happened.
  • So shoot me :)

Tuning in on Tuesday

It's a TSwizzle kinda day for me.

Also, I know that I'm being a HORRIBLE blogger right now.

I promise to be better.

Promise.

Tuning in on Tuesday

This song has been on repeat in my head since Sunday.

Such a great thing to remember.

Photos from the Day Before

It is always so much fun getting the tree decorated at work! I know we still haven't celebrated Thanksgiving yet, but doing the Christmas tree before we leave means we'll have a festive atmosphere when we return from Thanksgiving.

I liked my blinged out cross. Jacob said it made me look gangsta.

Delana brought us sweet treats at lunch. I love the chicks, ducks, and bunnies around Easter, so I was ecstatic about the Merry Mix!

My view at 4:30. It was a rainy one yesterday afternoon.

Sweet sweet boy. He's only shirtless because I was scratching his back while we watched Terra Nova. He believes it is more effective when his shirt is off.

I've started reading the Calder series again.

I love him.

Yesterday in Pictures

We started decorating the Christmas tree at work. I'm so very excited about Christmas. I've just got two or three more things on my list to get!!

Jacob and I had a mini date last night. We went Christmas shopping, had dinner at Zaxby's (you can see what I had for supper!), and then we went to see Immortals. Can I just say...it was AWESOME! I absolutely loved it. I'm into the whole mythology thing though. It was right up my ally.

I included the picture of Jacob's beard for two reasons:
a.) because I loved his new mint green shirt!
b.) because his beard has become a bit of a legend. That's how everyone recognizes him. That's the first thing people always comment on. And I may or may not love scratching it!

Heading Home

This weekend was well worth the four hour (made seven hour because of Atlanta traffic) trip to Athens, Georgia even if we got completely slaughtered by the Dawns. We got to visit with Jake and Anna, Ben and Hannah, and all the Williams clan.  Moods were lifted last night shortly after Auburn's loss with a trip to the local haunt, JR's.  After a midnight trip to Pita Pit, we were all feeling pretty good. Jacob and I headed back home early this morning. I'll be enjoying the above view for the next three hours...dreaming of my comfy bed and completing our to do list for Christmas gifts.

31 October 2011

So, this is Day TWO of feeling like crud. Seriously. Why does the weather have to go from freezing in the mornings to nice in the afternoons? It's making my sinuses go all crazy.

That's why there has been a lack in 'What I Ate' posts. I mean, cause when you're sick...do all the candy bars/glasses of chocolate milk/popcicles really count?

I didn't think so. No point in doing those posts.

Work was like a prison today, simply because I couldn't breathe, or stop sneezing, or get warm, etc. (You catch my drift, no?).

So, tonight, aside from doing a little crafting (morse code bracelets), I have snuggled up in a place similar to the one below (just nowhere near as strategic or gorgeous...sorry new bedroom. I love you dearly. You're my favorite place in our new house!) reading, playing computer games, facebooking, pinning, blogging, and dranking that chockit milk!

Here's to a better tomorrow!!

30 October 2011

Abe Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth

It has been a GREAT Halloween weekend, but I'm ending it with a horrible head cold.

Today has not been my best!

I do want to leave you with a picture of mine and Jacob's costumes...

Wednesday Wanderings

I was just doing my morning blog reads and came across this mini questionnaire on bluegrass belle. I thought I'd give it a whirl.

1. How do you take your coffee?
I don't take coffee. Seriously. I think it's yucky. On the rarest of occasions you might find me drinking a White Mocha from Starbucks...but it's rare.

2. Do you prefer soft or crispy chocolate chip cookies?

I like my chocolate chip cookies soft and chewy. I would even go as far as to microwave them to make them a bit gooey-er.

3. Do you wear a belt everyday?

Heavens, no. I do, however, belt things on occasion. Ya know, like a cardigan...

4. What is your favorite color combination?

I pretty much love any bright color paired with gray. Gray and brown are my favorite colors, period. But I don't prefer those two colors together. Unless, of course, we're talking charcoal and tan...swoon.

5. Do you like sour candy?

Sour candy is my favorite. I like tart tart tart!

6. How often do you do laundry?

I do laundry once a week. Sometimes people talk like that's a bad thing. I don't think so. It helps me ensure that I don't wear the same things over and over again.

7. Did you ever wear braces?

Yes siree. I wore braces in 6th and 7th grade. It wasn't a horrible experience. I was quite blessed as far as the braces go.

8. Are you good at Roman Numerals?
thru ten..or V

9. What is your favorite form of social media?

I'd have to say it's a tie between the blogosphere and pinterest. I'm obsessed with both.

10. How do you feel about chin dimples?

They aren't my favorite. Just sayin.

The Weekend

This weekend was incredible. And nothing extra special happened to make it that way. Because of Jacob's work schedule as of late, we really only get to see each other on the weekends. So, we do it BIG. And by BIG I obviously mean that I stay at his grandparents' house for the weekend in order to spend every waking moment with my boo. :) Barf yet? haha

Friday, I drove straight up to Huntsville after work. Granny greeted me at the door and announced that we had plans for dinner. (Please note: I love it when someone other than myself plans the evening.) Granny, Dumpy, Jacob, and I headed over to Nothin' But Noodles for dinner. Jacob always gives me a hard time because I never try anything new. When you love the three cheese macaroni with wheat penne pasta, you love it. Sorry, boo. haha I always love eating with Granny and Dumpy because, like Jacob, they always try something new. And they're never too shy to share!! After dinner, Jacob and I went out and grabbed THOR from the Redbox and returned a couple of his overused video games. (No worries. He preordered FOUR new games while we were there. Spoiled boy.)

Saturday morning, we slept late. Oh, and it was GLORIOUS. I've really gotten into sleeping lately. haha I know that sounds ridiculous, but I used to be an early to rise person on every day of the week. Now, I wanna soak up the comfy sheets for as long as I possibly can. Maybe I'm just avoiding the hair dryer. Who knows? Jacob and I fixed each other sandwiches and snuggled on the couch for the better part of Saturday. Wilson and Cooley came up for the Auburn vs. Florida game. We ordered pizza and celebrated a WIN. Afterwards, we took an impromptu trip bowling. Let me tell you, bowling until 1 in the am will kill your hip. Seriously. Mine's still sore!!

Sunday was a glorious morning. Mark's message was exactly what I needed to hear. He talked about what to do when you have a bad day. The main point was that we all have GOOD NEWS (which is the gospel), and that should trump all negativities in our daily lives. Read 1 Peter 3:18. That's the good news in one single verse. This message was completely encouraging. God is good! After church, Jacob and I headed for a quick lunch at Panera, and then headed back home for a nap. After napping (for 2 1/2 hours!!) we lounged around, snacked on left over pizza, and settled in for the season premiere of The Walking Dead. It didn't disappoint. Such a great weekend!! How was yours?
Oh my goodness!! Guess what returned last night?!?

THE WALKING DEAD

Jacob and I are absolutely obsessed with this series. Even though it's a zombie show, it's surprisingly realistic and make you jump out of your seat scary. I love it! Anyone else watch it?
This was a GREAT weekend...more about that in detail later. As far as the eats went??

midnight delight- Mt. Dew

~ walked around Bridgestreet all afternoon, went bowling for 3 hours (and if you don't think bowling is a workout, tell it to my left hip!!)

Sunday, October 16th

15 October 2011

I'm currently reading...

Anyone else read this? Seen the movie? Have thoughts?

I'm loving it so far. I just find it a bit strange.

On my mind...

  • Okay, so this is a random mod podge of my thoughts this day...
  • Speaking of mod podge...I wanna do some picture frames. Maybe add a little scrapbook paper, some magazine clippings...ya know. Fabric?
  • I've been making fabric wrapped bracelets lately. I absolutely love them!!
  • If you find a nerd scouring the fabric section of Walmart, don't be alarmed! It's just me :)
  • The boyfriend has had football on for about 2 hours now today.
  • Wanna know how long he's been awake?
  • That's right. You guessed it. 2 hours.
  • Did I mention that I'm writing this blog to avoid pinterest?
  • I've got a love/hate relationship with the website.
  • Why you ask?
  • Because it takes up alllllll of my time.
  • It's the devil! (not really!) But the website does totally suck me in.
  • I love days when I know that football is on schedule allllll day long and I don't have to blow dry my hair.
  • You know what else I love? The fact that Auburn plays a night game today.
  • Know what that means? Pizza for dinner!
  • I love some pizza. Hopefully we can score some feta and spinach from Tortora's.
  • It's basically my fav.
  • Umm...Does Mike Rowe's (Dirty Jobs) voice seem like and aphrodisiac to anyone else?
  • Onions make me really happy :)
  • Is that weird? I just love their bite.
  • I need colored skinnies.
  • Seriously.
  • A Gap trip may be on the agenda for after church tomorrow.
  • Have I ever mentioned how much I love my church?
  • Willowbrook is the bomb.
  • The Unplugged service is the bomb.com.
  • I'm going to get on pinterest now.
  • I can't stand it any longer!!

Random Thoughts

So, this is going to be a rather random posting. My apologies in advance if the flow of thought doesn't seem reasonable :) Oh well. It's a REAL post at least, right?

1. I am so perfectly content with my life right now. (DID YOU HEAR THAT? DO I NEED TO REPEAT MYSELF?! haha Seriously, though.) I am so perfectly content with my life right now. I have the BEST boyfriend a gal could have. We seem closer than ever before lately. Now, I'm just waiting on that bling. hehe My friends rock. Seriously. They're out of this world hilarious, and the best little texters :) That's important in friends, ya know. My family and I have spent TWO months back in our house, and besides kitchen cabinets and a rug for my room, things are finally starting to feel like home again. It's so nice to be back in my own space. (I promise I haven't forgetten about the pictures. They're coming, promise.) Willowbrook has definitely become mine and Jacob's church home. It's so nice to have a fit together. And finally, I know I  am nowhere near to having the job I want, but at least I have a job I enjoy. Who cares if the pay is crappy? Oh, wait. I do!! I do!! Still though, as I job search, I'm content.

2. Pinterest has taken over my life. I definitely think my existance in the cyber world exists soley on that website. I could spend hours poring over and then repinning Wedding Ideas, Outfit Inspirations, recipes, etc. etc. etc. It's a bit exhausting and overwhelming when you really step back and seriously think about the concept. It makes me a happy girl though :)

3. I have started working out. Now, while some of you may laugh...it is true. I swear it! I have set the Wii up in my room and I either play Just Dance for an hour (trust me...it makes me stinky with sweat. TMI? My apologies.) or I walk at least two miles. I'll probably give myself Sundays off. I mean, cause what are Sundays for other than going to church, eating and napping? I may also start recording my daily eats on the ole blog again. Although I haven't resorted back to my coca cola classic drinking ways (at least I only have one a week!!), I feel that I eat better and LESS when I am journaling everything down. (Did I just make up a word? Journaling?)

4. I'm obsessed with the Pretty Little Liars book series. That being said, I'm on the last book and just might stalk Sarah Shepard until she rights the next one, or three or six!

5. War Eagle! I love me some Auburn football, but can I say...I'm just a little exhausted having football on the schedule all day every day for Saturdays. What happened to date nights being on Saturdays? I'll tell you what happened...college football. On the upside, pinterest and football season have brought out the domestic goddess in me. Okay, well...maybe I'm not at goddess status yet!

6. I'm ready for the cool weather. Who's with me?

The Big 2-5

This weekend just so happened to be the weekend I turned the BIG TWO FIVE. That's right. I'm 25 now. Don't worry, I'm not having TOO hard a time dealing with it (okay...it's killing me. Seriously. Twenty-five is scarily close to THIRTY. No? You'd feel the same way, right? Tell me it's true!!). I've been blessed for twenty-five wonderful years. I honestly believe that this past year (the year of being 24) has been my best yet. Even though I'm getting closer to 30, I know that this year will be even better than the last.

So, you're wondering what I did to celebrate, aren't you?

Here goes...

Let's start the birthday celebrations on last Tuesday. Last Tuesday happened to be my Uncle Greg's 50th birthday. Because I spent my birthday weekend in Auburn, my family took us out to eat at Connors for our birthdays. Oh. Em. Gee. If you've ever had the chance to eat at a Connors, you should. I'm telling you...that's the BEST steak you will ever put in your mouth!!

Friday, I left work early, and Jacob and I cranked the Stang and headed to The Loveliest Village on the Plains. Everytime I go back to Auburn, it makes me so very happy! Jacob and I immediately headed to Laredo's for some Mexican cuisine to meet several of our friends. Included in the list were, Katherine, Gary, Aimee and Tyler, Ben and Hannah, Roeder, and Blake. After dinner, we all decided to pretty much call it an evening. We're getting old (Hello!! The BIG 25!! Do you notice a theme? haha). Jacob and I went back to Aimee and Tyler's new house. They were so generous to put us up for the weekend. Sincerely, best HOST and HOSTESS EVER! Their house is completely adorable and soooo suited to Da Motos. Seriously. You walk in and say, 'Hey! This is a house built for Aimee and Tyler.' That evening before bed, Aimee baked me cookies, lit a candle, stuck it in one, and she, Tyler, and Jacob sang me 'Happy Birthday.' It was completely sweet. And so simple, but so appreciated.

Saturday started super early. Jacob and I had secured student tickets for the Auburn vs. Mississippi State game. We had to be at the stadium at 9:30 ready to endure the game. When the game ended with an Auburn win, at 3:30, we left the stadium stoked, exhausted, sunburnt, and thirsty. War Eagle! :) We went back to Aimee and Tyler's, showered, and just rested before my birthday dinner.

We eventually pulled ourselves out of our lazy state and headed to meet friends at the Irish Bred Pub in Opelika. It's one of my favorite places to eat when we go down to Auburn because they have Woodchuck on draft. So, after stuffing my belly with spinach dip, potato skins, fish & chips and a couple of Woodchucks, we headed to Quixote's for some drinks and music. It was a PERFECT birthday evening, no doubt. It was just laidback enough to still remain exciting.

We ended our weekend in Auburn with lunch at Loco's with Aimee, Tyler, Wilson, Jon, Josh, and Blake. It was an amazing weekend, no doubt. Jacob and I really enjoy our car rides home from Auburn on Sunday evenings/afternoons. It makes us really appreciate conversation and quiet time with each other.

Twenty-five has been GREAT so far. Hopefully, it will be even greater than twenty-four! :)
