Wedding Wednesday

Okay, so today...it's all about wedding food.

I keep trying to think about the BIG things (i.e. food, flowers, decor) right now because I know getting more done a year in advance will make things easier in 6 months.

Right?

We are going to do finger foods. I want the reception to be as laidback as possible. No fuss.

Well, I know two things that I FOR SURE want to have at the reception:

cucumber sandwiches
and
chicken fingers.

Do you think those go together? Do you really think it matters? I know those are two things that Jacob and I love.

Tuning in on Tuesday

I'm not giving you a video today.

Wanna know why?

Because the song that will be in my head will be whatever Phil Phillips sings tonight on American Idol.

I may come back with a video for you on the morrow...but probably not :)

I'm still singing this song right now...

It's the Weekend

Jacob and I at the Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Lauren Aliana concert

 Our view

Well, it was the weekend. I guess you could say it's technically  over now. It was such a great weekend though. Here's the rundown:

Thursday- Thursday evening was spent at the Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Lauren Alaina concert. Before the party started, we went to eat at Po' Boys in Five Points. I have one word...delish! I had fried shrimp and it was incredible fresh. Not to mention, when I walked into the restaurant, I immediately felt like I was in New Orleans. Awesome dining experience. The concert was QUITE the PARTY. I mean, it was AWESOME! :) Luke Bryan shook it and Jason Aldean got down! They were joined on stage at one point by Randy Owens and they sang a couple of Alabama songs. That was my favorite part of the whole show.

Friday- Friday was just a normal work day for me. I spent that evening with Jamie. We had dinner at a new Mexican restaurant and got caught up on each other. I spent the rest of the night doing laundry and just hanging out.

Saturday- I spent Saturday day with my brother catching up on American Idol. Hello, Phil Phillips!! Come to MAMA!! (Yes, I've admitted my crush to Jacob. He's okay with it!) Saturday evening Jacob and I went to see Act of Valor. I would suggest that everyone go see it when they get a chance. It was touching and such a great film! We had some Mellow Mushroom after the movie and then came home to catch up on some television from the week (The River, The New Girl, Raising Hope, and gLee).

Sunday- Sunday morning Jacob and I got up and went to church, and then had lunch with Granny and Dumpy at Nothin' But Noodles. After church, we headed home just to chill out. I read and did some pinning while Jacob played Borderlands with his buds. I also may or may not have snuck in a teensy tiny nap. It was glorious!! After a couple of episodes of Sons of Anarchy, I headed home to paint the fingernails and watch the Oscars. WAR EAGLE, OCTAVIA SPENCER!! She totally deserved winning, and I LOVED how she gave a War Eagle on the red carpet.

Overall, it was a stupendous weekend. Hope the next one is just as wonderful.

Valentine's Day

My Valentine's day was rockin' awesome! I hope yours was too!!

Jacob and I have never really been big on celebrating the holiday. Instead, we'd like to go on a trip or something fun like that.  Much better, right?

Our first Valentine's Day together we got each other concert tickets. Jacob took me to see Rascal Flatts and I took him to see Sister Hazel. On our second Valentine's Day together, I got Jacob a Fossil watch and he took me to Atlanta for a weekend. We went to the aquarium and had a wonderful stay in a sweet hotel. Both Valentine's Days were the bomb.com.

This Valentine's Day was even more special though. It was our first Valentine's Day as an engaged couple AND it was the first time we'd actually gotten to spend actual Valentine's Day with each other :) We decided to have a chill night in. We grilled some kabobs and watched some Sons of Anarchy (our newest addiction. Have you seen it yet?! Oh my goodness. Get on the bandwagon NOW!).

No worries about the lack of gifts though. We found out on Valentine's Day that we're going to see Jason Aldean next Thursday night!! :)

Soooo very exciting!! I couldn't be a happier chick!

I sported the newest trend, hot pink and red together, in honor of the lovely day.
Me and my Valentine :)
These kabobs were soooo very yummy!!

Wedding Wednesday

Remember when I showed you the picture above and told you I was working on a little project?

It was the cards that I mailed to each of my thirteen (yes, thirteen. I didn't stutter. Promise.) bridesmaids to ask them to take part in my wedding.

Here's a glimpse of what they looked like before I added the pictures and all the mushy stuff!

Weekend in Review

I feel like this weekend was a pretty successful one. And let's face it, there's nothing better than a successful weekend...UNLESS it's a lazy one. Am I right?

I began my weekend by taking the day off work Friday to head to Birmingham with my mom and Delana to try on wedding dresses. We went to several bridal boutiques in Mountainbrook and Homewood, and I found 3 TIP TOP contenders. Let's be real though, I have got a little over a year until the wedding, so I am not in any hurry to buy my dress. I promise you I'll be trying on many many more before I make a final decision. I did find it funny that everything I hated about wedding dresses in the beginning were the exact things I loved most about my favorite three dresses. Friday was also a success because I got to eat at The Cheesecake Factory. I mean, come on...who doesn't LOVE that place?!

Jacob and I spent Saturday with Amybeth, David, Jon, Erica, and Dee. Early Saturday afternoon, we headed to Amy and Dave's so the boys could play some video games. After playing with the puppies, Houdini and Huck, Amybeth and I decided to head downtown for a little shopping (I  got a BALLIN' scarf on sale. So cute!!). We met back up with the boys for dinner at The Rock House Eatery. It's a local Guntersville restaurant that is delicious. It is also really the only super nice place to eat in Guntersville. After good food, lots of wine, and lots of laughs, we finished dinner and headed back to Amy and Dave's for more wine and card games. It was an awesome night (always is when we're with them!)!

Today, I'm taking it easy. I went to church this morning, and then I came directly home, put on my pjs and started downloading music. Now, I'm headed to my Gran's (well, at least when my last load of laundry finishes drying) for dinner and coming back home to watch The Grammy's.

Currently...

Obsessing over…my wedding website, the Grammy red carpet dresses, and downloading new music
Working on…
absolutely nothing. It's actually rather nice.
Thinking about…
my dream last night. Daniel Helton called me from Heaven. It was interesting.
Anticipating…
the performances from the Grammy's tonight.
Listening to…
last week's episode of Gossip Girl
Eating…
nothing right now. I am craving some pickles or olives or onions. I may just settle for a pomegranate popsicle though.
Wishing…
that it were a tad bit warmer outside. Hello Winter!

Wedding Wednesday

So, maybe this will be a weekly theme until the wedding, but probably not.

I mean, who am I kidding? I can't be consistent with these posts. That's asking waaaay too much. Besides, the wedding is over a year away.
Anyways, here are some of my favorite wedding inspirations on pinterest right now:

I am absolutely in love with this After Six bridesmaid dress.

How simply beautiful is this cake?!
I'm in love this everything about this dress.

Simple flowers for the guys.

Isn't this a precious SOUTHERN idea for desserts or favors?

07 February 2012

On a Tuesday evening...

Obsessing over…
wedding plans (Come on though. That's a FUN obsession! Promise.)
Working on…
a list of bridal stores to go to and check out on Friday.
Thinking about…
anything and everything. Seriously. This deserves an 'on my mind...' post, doesn't it? Maybe we'll get one of those tomorrow. IF we're lucky.
Anticipating…
all of the upcoming wedding festivities for all of mine and Jacob's friends this summer.
Listening to…
the Kentucky vs. Florida basketball game. GO CATS!
Eating…
nothing right now. I just finished a great meal made by Granny though. It was a crazy twist on beef stew (think carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, and meatballs in a brown gravy sauce. Delicious! Thank you pinterest!) and bread & butter. Oh, and I topped that all off with a big ole glass of water and 2 chewy chocolate chip cookies. Life is good.
Wishing…
that April 20, 2013 wasn't so far away.

Tuning in on Tuesday

Even though this song now reminds me of this season's Bachelor (because Ben played it on the piano), I still love this song oh so much!!

Happy Tuesday! :)

06 February 2012

That's a glimpse of what I worked on this weekend.

I may or may not have tried on a wedding dress or two as well.

I can probably give more in depth details next week! :)

Wanting...some skirts for the Spring/Summer and a few great wedding/shower dresses.
Thinking...about bouquets. I'm in wedding plan mode right now. haha
