Novel Ideas

This is what I just finished reading...

Self-proclaimed “Queen of All Media” Perez Hilton makes his publishing debut with a hysterical pop-cultural satire about today's insane celebrity-driven world.
Perez Hilton—founder of PerezHilton.com, the country's most popular celebrity blog, and “one of the most polarizing media figures since Howard Stern” (L.A. Weekly)—cuts loose with a book that'll secure his reputation as “the most hated man in Hollywood” (Rolling Stone).
Psycho celebrities dominate news, fashion, and trends, influencing how we speak, what we wear, and who we hang out with. We're obsessed! Our gossip-driven world has set the barometer of what's in or out. So, who are we trying to become and how do we become them? Post a grainy sex video online, drive high and wasted against oncoming traffic, flash for the cameras, and if that doesn't work, attempt suicide and you're bound to become a “Hilton.”
Now the man behind Hollywood's most hated website—infamous for breaking raw superstar dish and jaw-dropping commentary—lends his fearless voice, notorious sense of humor, and outrageous sensibility to Red Carpet Suicide, the book celebrities have been looking forward to as much as their next DUI. Making sense of the madness and celebrity addiction that consumes us, Perez twists this irresistible and delicious guilty pleasure into a hysterically funny, shockingly true, and generation-defining survival guide.

This is what I'm currently reading...

#1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Nora Roberts enchants again with two more beloved classics about the passionate and headstrong MacGregor family.

All the Possibilities

Creative, compelling, unconventional—Shelby Campbell was unlike any woman Senator Alan MacGregor had ever known. The cynical politician found himself falling in love with the spirited beauty, though she kept him at arm's length. But Alan was determined and nothing was going to keep him from getting what he wanted—not even the centuries-old feud between the MacGregors and Campbells….

One Man's Art

Grant Campbell was a loner—rude and impossible! Yet as soon as he opened the lighthouse door to Genevieve Grandeau on that stormy night, she was lost. Underneath his gruff, handsome exterior, he was intelligent, sensitive…and slightly scarred. To Gennie, loving meant sharing, trusting. But Grant was hiding in the shadow of the past, afraid to move beyond it. She'd have to convince him that their love was a beacon for the future—but how?

...and this is what I'm reading next!!

The astonishing and long-awaited novel, authorized by Margaret Mitchell's estate, that parallels the Great American Novel, Gone With The Wind.

One Step at a Time
  • Work has given me a real case of the Mondays today.
  • Like, seriously.
  • I don't even feel like doing anything...except maybe cuddling up with a book, listening to the rain.
  • I had a HORRIBLE dream last night. It was AWFUL. I woke up at 12:34am sweating and frantically scared.
  • I hate it when that happens.
  • Tonight's Girls' Night at Jamie's. I'm super excited :)
  • We're going to watch Gossip Girl and have dinner and gab.
  • Sounds like a pretty perfect evening, no?
  • I wanna go to Europe really really REALLY badly. Depending on how a few things go, I'll probably be able to visit sometime next year.
  • I'd never be in the military.
  • I am not sure where that thought came from.
  • I am so thankful for the people that serve our country in the military.
  • I just don't think I'm cut out for it.
  • Have you seen me?! haha

On my mind...

Light On-David Cook
  • Does anyone else feel like this day could stretch on possibly FOREVER? I mean, I've been at work for longer than I have ever cared to be today.
  • We're one short today, which means I don't get an hour away from the office for lunch. Maybe that's why it seems so miserably SLOW today.
  • Or maybe it's due to the fact that I haven't seen my Jacob since Wednesday, and I'm looking forward to the date he's planned for us tonight :)
  • The weather today is INCREDIBLE. I mean, seriously. It's been frigidly cold/windy/rainy/snowy for a couple of weeks now. I'm appreciating the sunshine and fifty degree weather so so so much.
  • I've been scouring the internet in my down time today for cute but dressy dresses.
  • Starting February 12th, I've got ten weddings to attend until July 16th.
  • Of course, the wedding on the 16th is Aimee and Tyler's, and I'm in that one.
  • That means I won't have to find a dress for that event. Thank goodness. Although, there is always the rehearsal dinner. Back to my search. haha
  • Suggestions?
  • I got my taxes done yesterday.
  • This excites me because I got a LOT of money back this year.
  • Not to brag, but we're talking in the several thousands of dollars!!! Can you say hello car payments AND new dresses? :)
  • For once, having to pay for my own education is paying off. haha
  • Speaking of, I'm so glad that I have graduated and am no longer in school.
  • Life's so much simpler now.
  • Plus, I get lots of nights free. That means lots of television and reading time :) Pretty perfect, right?

Okay, so if you have never seend HBO's mini series, 'Band of Brothers,' I suggest you go out to your nearest DVD acquiring location and spend the almost $100 that the series will cost you.

The show's about the paratroopers, Easy Company, led by Major Dick Winters and their journey thru WWII.

It's so well done (Tom Hanks helped produce it). It is a show that you won't want to stop watching until you've finished the final disk.

And just as a warning, you'll cry cry cry cry cry. Seriously.

Listen to this...

...and then just have a few moments alone with our Awesome God.

I've found that this song can make me feel better even when I'm at my lowest, frustrated to no end, mad at the world, and even when I'm happiest.

It's a promise and a TRUTH that will never FAIL.

Our God IS an Awesome God.
He reigns from Heaven above.
With wisdom, power, and love,
our God is an Awesome God.

I've made that my continual praise today.

Maybe you should too? :)

Grenade-Bruno Mars
  • So, on this Wednesday afternoon at 4:01 p.m. I can say that I'm exhausted.
  • It was a court day which means dealing with a TON of disgruntled people. Sorry, folks.
  • 'Obey the law so you don't have to appear in court.'
  • That's what I want to shout at them all.
  • I've got dinner with the boyfriend at Tortora's tonight. It's a pizza place (actually our favorite for our shared pizza of feta and spinach) in Hampton Cove.
  • I might get pasta tonight though. It's very VERY good as well.
  • I wonder if Jacob would rather watch the opening night of American Idol tonight instead of our original plans.
  • Those plans would be checking out MegaMind at one of the two $1 theaters we discovered exist in Huntsvegas.
  • Hmmm...either way it'll be a great night.
  • Do you ever wish you didn't have plans? I've been feeling more and more like that lately.
  • I've got to get better about saving money.
  • And by saving money, I mean stop buying shoes.
  • I snatch an AWESOME pair of black clogs with wooden heels for $9 today.
  • How was I supposed to pass those up?
  • Now I just have to figure out how many ways I can style them.
  • I also need dresses. Like I am in DIRE need of dresses. Any ideas of who has cute ones? And don't say Forever21. Already looked.
  • Keep in mind I need to save money. haha
  • Workouts have to start immediately. By workouts I mean physical activities.
  • I'm in a wedding this summer, and I'd love to be adorable and TINY in the dress :)
  • I just think navy looks better in TINY, don't you?
  • I mean, I'm not looking to get back into my 107lb frame from high school, I'd just like to shed 10 to 15 pounds.
  • Thinking back to the clogs, I'll take ides on how to style them too.
  • When I think about finding a place for the 3 pairs of shoes I've bought this week, it makes me shudder.
  • I need a better job with higher pay. Then, I could purchase my own home with closets and closets and closets. Better to store my things, right?
  • I mean, my bedroom looks like it could explode.
  • Literally.
  • Say a little prayer for me with February 1st specifically in mind. K? Thanks. :)

  • I'm currently spending my MLK  afternoon listening to the boyfriend play Borderlands with all his buddies while I peruse the blogosphere.
  • This morning/day, I had the privilege of going with Aimee and her mom to look for a wedding dress.
  • She found it! :) AND it was the first one we tried on. Everyone cried.
  • Isn't that the way things always happen?
  • We also found the bridesmaid dresses. I'll give a sneak peek: they're NAVY :) One of my favorite colors!!
  • After having a 2 o'clock lunch at Rosie's, I'm completely stuffed.
  • I'd seriously be content with spending my evening listening to Jacob play video games while I look at pictures from the Golden Globes and read.
  • Life can be so completely satisfying when it's simple.
  • Speaking of simple, I need to mix things up a bit and start exercising more.
  • I'm think at least 4 songs on the wii's Just Dance to start off with a night.
  • That's a good goal, right?
  • I'll eventually start doing my three-mile walks beside the lake once the weather warms up.
  • Ever since I started this blog, I've wanted to be one of those people who does outfit posts.
  • I'm not brave enough though :( boo. hoo.
  • One of my close friends recently started blogging. Can I just say WHOO HOO!? I'm glad you did :)
  • There's just something so entertaining about reading someone else's thoughts and opinions. No?
  • I've fell out of love with music lately. That's a problem. Maybe that's why I've been so UNmotivated about everything lately.
  • Even cleaning my room. (which is something I never went a day without doing.)
  • I really just have TOO MUCH stuff.
  • I need a house. I need a coffee table more importantly, because I have things to put on it! haha

Okay, okay, okay.

I know you are all scrapping your brains trying to figure out what happened during my Date Night last night with Jacob.

Guess what? I've got answers.
:)

It was a super relaxing evening.
After I slipped and slid my way from my car to Jacob's front door, I was greeted with a great BIG hug (one of my favorites).
We then decided on dinner at Santa Fe because we had a gift card.
Sadly, the appetizer and salad were the BEST part of the meal.
The steak definitely disappointed.
It's okay though because Jacob is taking me to Connor's Saturday night. It's the best steak place around. Plus, we're going with Aimee and Tyler.
That=DOUBLE excitement. :)

After dinner, Jacob had a surprise waiting for me

Yall just don't even understand my excitement about this movie. I've been waiting to see it since I saw the FIRST preview. And if you haven't seen it yet, you should!
This movie did not disappoint. And the three little girls are a.dor.able.
Seriously.

After the movie, Jacob showed me the opener for his latest Xbox game

It actually looked pretty dang cool.

I'm just glad he can get on the Xbox Live with all his friends in Auburn and still have a good ole time.

There was also lots of cuddling and back scratching (his not mine), but I'll spare you the details.

date night = success

Foreshadow

fore·shad·ow verb \-ˈsha-(ˌ)dō\

Definition of FORESHADOW

transitive verb

: to represent, indicate, or typify beforehand

Sometimes, don't you wish that you realized something was a foreshadowing BEFORE it actually happened? I mean, think about it. Foreshadowing, even though it 'represents something beforehand,' never actually comes to light in our eyes until AFTER the act has happened.

Really, when you get down to it, I hate foreshadowing. I wish it had never been created as a word or a thought. Foreshadowing stinks. It is a verb that's no help at all until AFTER history has already been written. Silly.

Let's all make a pact to never use the word again. Mmmk? Thanks.
What I Ate Thursday, January 13th

Tonight's a date night :)

I'm pretty pumped up about it because the SNOWPOCALYPSE 2011 has kept me from seeing my love since Sunday.  (I know. I know. I probably shouldn't gripe. He could be in the military or still living in Auburn or on a business trip or any number of things.)

Anyways, Jacob's given me the daunting task of deciding where we eat dinner tonight. I don't really take kindly to decision making. Give me a limited amount of choices, and I'm your golden girl for making a decision. Jacob's left me with no choices though.

Any suggestions?

As for after dinner, I believe we'll either go to the movies (there's a TON we haven't seen yet and want to), visit the Redbox for a movie (there's also a TON we haven't seen yet and want to), or continue watching Season One of One Tree  Hill.

That's also my decision. haha

Since it's Date Night, I figured I'd leave you all with a sweet quote I found the other day:

We loved with a love that was more than love.-Edgar Allen Poe
If you don't do anything else today, go check out this blog.

It's a display of God's mercy and love.

And it made me cry.

In the words of Chris Tomlin, 'Our God is Greater. Our God is Stronger. God YOU are Higher than any other. Our God is Healer. He's Awesome in Power. OUR GOD.'
What I Ate Wednesday, January 12th
5:45am-coca cola classic
11:35am-fried rice, coca cola classic
4:45pm-Mellow Yellow, spaghetti, garlic roll, salad (croutons, parmesan cheese, lettuce, Italian dressing, pita chips)

12 January 2011

On my mind...

  • "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood..." (sung in a Mr. Rogers voice.)
  • It really isn't a beautiful day in the neighborhood though.
  • I mean, it's beautiful. It's just also EXTREMELY cold.
  • Can you beleive it's snowed all day long too? I couldn't.
  • The snow in turning into a nuisance to me.
  • I mean, it was fun and exciting when it was actually falling out of the sky and accumulating on the ground. But seriously, the ice made it too hard to play in :(
  • Therefore, it's got to go. Like right now. K? Thanks.
  • That's enough about the snow.
  • Let's get to the good stuff.
  • I may have mislead you with my previous bullet. By exciting, I mean what I want to do tonight.
  • Playing the Sims while also reading 'Son of a Witch' sounds like a perfect schedule for the evening.
  • I am supposed to have practice for church tonight.
  • I'm struggling lately with trying to find a new church home and not singing anymore.
  • By not singing I mean, not singing on a stage in front of everyone with a microphone.
  • I believe that not singing like ^THAT^ would make worship the way it used to be to me.
  • Worship, to me, has always been one of my main ways of communication with my Savior.
  • When I'm singing in front of everyone, even though I try hard not to, I seem to focus more on myself and how I'm performing than my intimate moment with Christ.
  • So, that's my dilemma.
  • It's even tougher for me because my mother tries to DIE *seriously* when I say I'm not going to be at church on Sunday.
  • For her, the problem is me not singing.
  • Anyways, that's just something I've got to figure out. And I believe I'd have more time to mull it over if I'm just relaxing tonight without having to actually GO to practice.
  • Moving forward...I need want some new books.
  • The last excursion I had to Barnes&Noble (where I have ample amounts of gift cards :) ) proved to be disappointing.
  • I didn't find a THING that appealed to me.
  • Any suggestions?

Snowpocalypse 2011

So, this is DAY TWO of the Snowpocalypse 2011.

Yes, you heard me right. Alabama, more specifically Guntersville, received almost 8 inches of snow Monday morning.

While it's been a refreshing two days out of work (and school for the kiddos and boyfriend), I'm ready for tomorrow morning to get her so I can get back to making that paper.

You see, I'm not being paid for my snow days. Thank you, City of Guntersville.

Don't get me wrong. I loved watching the Auburn Tigers become the National Champions last night, getting to stay up until 1:30 in the am watching the post game commentary and highlights, and sleeping incredibly late this morning (i.e. 9:31 am).

But there's only so many hours that can be consumed by doing laundry, experimenting with your hair, taking a nice looooong relaxing bath, reading, playing on Facebook, and my guiltiest pleasure of all-playing the Sims 3 (Hey, if Jacob can spend hours on the Xbox, I don't believe me playing the Sims is so bad, right?).

Without further ado, SNOW, please melt!! K. Thanks.
Looking at our front yard...

This used to be our flowerbeds. haha

Dad and Noah felt like our snowman was deserving of a Jeff Gordon hat. Poor snowman.

The Past Few Days...

So, you may be wondering why I've been M.I.A. for the last weekend.
Truth be told, I was out of town for New Years and Jacob's birthday.
Don't you recall my posts about our cabin, Serenity Pines, in Ellijay, Georgia?

Well, the weekend was absolutely incredible.
No lie.
We grilled steaks, made mac&cheese, mushrooms, and red velvet cupcakes for Jacob's birthday. He was pleasantly pleased (and so was my tummy).

I did nothing all weekend but catch up on reading, play gin rummy with some of my nearest and dearest, wedding plan with Aimee, and sleep sleep sleep sleep sleep.
It was the most incredible thing ever.

So, I didn't post over the past few days because I was too busy looking at this view...

...laying in this hot tub...

...and playing with Miss Bailey :)
