The Big 2-5

This weekend just so happened to be the weekend I turned the BIG TWO FIVE. That's right. I'm 25 now. Don't worry, I'm not having TOO hard a time dealing with it (okay...it's killing me. Seriously. Twenty-five is scarily close to THIRTY. No? You'd feel the same way, right? Tell me it's true!!). I've been blessed for twenty-five wonderful years. I honestly believe that this past year (the year of being 24) has been my best yet. Even though I'm getting closer to 30, I know that this year will be even better than the last.

So, you're wondering what I did to celebrate, aren't you?

Here goes...

Let's start the birthday celebrations on last Tuesday. Last Tuesday happened to be my Uncle Greg's 50th birthday. Because I spent my birthday weekend in Auburn, my family took us out to eat at Connors for our birthdays. Oh. Em. Gee. If you've ever had the chance to eat at a Connors, you should. I'm telling you...that's the BEST steak you will ever put in your mouth!!

Friday, I left work early, and Jacob and I cranked the Stang and headed to The Loveliest Village on the Plains. Everytime I go back to Auburn, it makes me so very happy! Jacob and I immediately headed to Laredo's for some Mexican cuisine to meet several of our friends. Included in the list were, Katherine, Gary, Aimee and Tyler, Ben and Hannah, Roeder, and Blake. After dinner, we all decided to pretty much call it an evening. We're getting old (Hello!! The BIG 25!! Do you notice a theme? haha). Jacob and I went back to Aimee and Tyler's new house. They were so generous to put us up for the weekend. Sincerely, best HOST and HOSTESS EVER! Their house is completely adorable and soooo suited to Da Motos. Seriously. You walk in and say, 'Hey! This is a house built for Aimee and Tyler.' That evening before bed, Aimee baked me cookies, lit a candle, stuck it in one, and she, Tyler, and Jacob sang me 'Happy Birthday.' It was completely sweet. And so simple, but so appreciated.

Saturday started super early. Jacob and I had secured student tickets for the Auburn vs. Mississippi State game. We had to be at the stadium at 9:30 ready to endure the game. When the game ended with an Auburn win, at 3:30, we left the stadium stoked, exhausted, sunburnt, and thirsty. War Eagle! :) We went back to Aimee and Tyler's, showered, and just rested before my birthday dinner.

We eventually pulled ourselves out of our lazy state and headed to meet friends at the Irish Bred Pub in Opelika. It's one of my favorite places to eat when we go down to Auburn because they have Woodchuck on draft. So, after stuffing my belly with spinach dip, potato skins, fish & chips and a couple of Woodchucks, we headed to Quixote's for some drinks and music. It was a PERFECT birthday evening, no doubt. It was just laidback enough to still remain exciting.

We ended our weekend in Auburn with lunch at Loco's with Aimee, Tyler, Wilson, Jon, Josh, and Blake. It was an amazing weekend, no doubt. Jacob and I really enjoy our car rides home from Auburn on Sunday evenings/afternoons. It makes us really appreciate conversation and quiet time with each other.

Twenty-five has been GREAT so far. Hopefully, it will be even greater than twenty-four! :)
If I promised you a real life post sometime later today....

...would you believe me?

This is a current fav of mine.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately.

We've finally moved back into our house and the unpacking process has begun.

I'm uninspired...and crazy busy.

I promise to post pictures soon!

Tuning in on Tuesday

Jacob just told me the other day that he 'wrote this song about me.'
Sweet boy :)

10 August 2011

On my mind...

  • I woke up this morning with a horrible sinus infection :(
  • Just in time for me to spend a weekend with my honey too.
  • Boo.
  • Babies are just the sweetest things in the world!
  • Don't know why my train of thought went there, BUT I can't wait to go play with Lane or Corbyn again.
  • They're both incredibly precious and sweet.
  • And they're both at that stage where they smile at everything.
  • I can always almost just hear the giggle bubbling out of their mouths (even though neither is quite old enough to discover laughing yet!).
  • Again on the baby train, why do people give their children such goofy names?
  • Hello, people! It's not trendy for your baby to be named after a Disney character or a fruit or vegetable.
  • The gig is up.
  • Seriously.
  • I feel like this weekend may be one of the busiest I've had since mine and Jacob's last wedding.
  • We shall see....
    • Thursday (cause it's technically the weekend, right?)- Jacob and I are eating with his parentals
    • Friday- work til 4:30, dinner with Mom for her birthday
    • Saturday- bridal fair with Erica and Jamie at 9, lunch with the girls, Jacob and I are going to Birmingham to hang with Hannah and Ben and see their new place
    • Sunday- church
  • So, overall not entirely  busy...
  • ...just keep in mind that I'll probably be moving back into our house all the while as well.
  • Sinus infection...go away.

So, I was feeling a little domestic last night, and this was the result:

Trust me, this was a fun and EASY evening project!

04 August 2011

Wanna know what I feel like right now????

Yep. Seriously stressed out.
We came into work this morning to find that our court software was on the fritz. Guess what else? It hasn't backed itself up since 8/1. That was 3 days ago. Know what that means? I'm now searching for and rekeying data from the past 3 days.
No fun.
Just in case you were wondering.

I love this video describing the ONE True Love...

01 August 2011

I just finished reading...

I am currently reading...

then I start this series....
*Don't judge me. I love the show too.

If you've been reading my little ole blog for any time at all, you know that we are currently rebuilding our house. I'm gonna take this as an opportunity to simplify things. Meaning, I'm going to put less in my room and put MORE in storage.

I've gotten new bedding (black & white with some accent pillows in yellow), new wall paint (it's a light blue/green), new ceiling paint (eggnog-a very light yellow), and dark hand-scraped hardwood floors.

All of my furniture is black. To change things up a bit, Mom is redoing my Gran's old buffet for me to use as a dresser. It's going to be painted black. The drawer handles will remain the same. We just wanted to spice things up a bit by getting different knobs for the two doors. Here are my favorites from Anthropologie:

on my mind...

Bills, Bills, Bills-gLee Cast
  • I've recently started an account with Spotify. It's AMAZING. Did ya hear me? AMAZING! You definitely need to open a free account NOW. You can send people songs and view their playlists and everything. Trust me, it's a great tool for the office.
  • I forgot how much I love summer.
  • Not that I don't love weddings, but we've had so many this summer, that I forgot what a fun time of the year it is.
  • Last night, Jamie and I went to The Lakehouse to hear David Helton and Katie Sturgis.
  • Last night made me remember how much fun summertime is and can be.
  • I've got to quit spending money. haha Don't we all.
  • Seriously though. My goal is to be intensely frugal from now til Christmas.
  • Our house is ALMOST done :)
  • Everyone CHEER!!!
  • They've got most of the paint done.
  • We're just waiting on cabinets and some nitpicking little details being finished.
  • I know I'll sleep so much better once I'm back in my own bed.
  • It'll be glorious.
  • Going back to the saving money issue...I've been online SHOPPING and making wishlists a LOT.
  • That doesn't defeat the purpose, right?
  • I think it's just therapy.
  • I've been encouraging a friend to get involved with photography. She needs to take a leap. Say a prayer about that, please.
  • I've also started a Pinterest account, and tried to close it and reopen it.
  • No avail.
  • Any tips?
  • Sometimes, I think that talking on the phone at work all day makes it harder for me to talk on the phone in my down time.
  • I loathe it.
  • Everyone keep me in your prayers next week.
  • I've got a VERY important lunch date that I'm spilling no details about to anyone until it's over :)
It's a little Dixieland Delight and The Right Time of the Night and Love in the First Degree

Tuning in on Tuesday

I've decided that each Tuesday will have a post dedicated to music.

Why? Because it's a passion of mine.
Let's get the party started right today with this little jewel :)
It definitely gets me pumped up for the day.

eh...eh...everday I'm shufflin'.

Feeling Generic

*Where were you last night?
I spent the evening at Jacob's. We finished watching Season 1 of 'Rome' and then watched 'Hall Pass.' Trust me. Hilarity ensued.

*Last place you went to eat?
Subway
*What are you listening to?
The judge talking to Delana and Marsha typing up paperwork

*Plans tonight?
I'm going back to the boyfriend's this evening. We'll have dinner with his grandparents, then spend the rest of the evening being lazy and watching the Braves.

*What are you thinking about right now?
I'm thinking that this rain/thunder/lightening/office lights blinking is making me sleeeepy.

*What's your favorite hobby?
I love love love reading. I'll read anything.

*What are you wearing?
It's a pretty simple Monday workwear outfit. Jeans (rolled and cuffed), black tee, black jewelry, gray J.Crew headband, snakeskin flipflops

*What have you always WANTED to do?
I've always wanted to be a personal shopper. Seeing as how my job searching isn't going to well lately, I may just have to start my own business.

*Are you always in a hurry?
I guess you could say that. The thing is, it's starting to wear me out. I've realized more and more recently that I need to relax WAY more often.

a little over a month

Hmmm...I'd say it was Jacob. Sometimes chilvary isn't dead. :)

*Would you rather take a cruise to the Bahamas or spend 2 weeks in Europe?
I would rather spend 2 weeks in Europe. That may be a likely trip in my future. The future in-laws are actually moving to Nottingham, England in August.

*Do you have any plans for tomorrow?
I've got work until 4:30, dinner with the fam, checking on the paint progress at our house, watching 'The Bachelorette' and 'Pretty Little Liars,' and maybe doing some blogging.
